I'm doing another "List thing" today. I enjoy these from time to time. Let me know if you do, too.
Things I Find Demoralizing about TV Today
It has become okay to be...
... nasty. Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes
... sexually overcharged. Recent Glees
... superficial about relationships. The Bachelor
... to spread hurtful gossip. The celebrity "Entertainment" shows
... dysfunctional in family life. The Simpsons
... mean-spirited. House
... to watch lurid wild behavior by teens. MTV's "Skins"
Feel free to add to my list, and I'll update it early next week. E-mail me at marghouk@juno.com, Comment (below), or click on right to reach my Facebook page
Looking for better from the television industry,

We no longer watch TV. We decided that we didn't watch enough of it before the conversion so it wasn't worth converting. We do watch a lot of movies and we see a lot of violence and suggested sex. Sometimes I wonder if a completely sheltered child would survive in the world today when they went out on their own. Picking and choosing movies and watching them together provides me with an opportunity to discuss what is wrong with it and what is right. I don't like movies with no clear-cut good and bad guy. Where you have the thief who is supposed to be the good guy etc. Most shows and movies I don't like, I just don't watch. Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Sex in the City, this list is tremendously long... The most dangerous ones I think are the ones that subtly slip in immorality. It's like the frog in the pot doesn't know he is being boiled until it is too late because it was done slowly. I think I may be about boiled!
