The Misfit
I have a confession to make. I'm a misfit. I started this column with the title THE HUMBLE SERVANT and wrote a couple of posts. Then I reread them and found they were boring. Not only that, I couldn't use The Humble Servant as my domain name because--would you believe it--there are more than 1,200,000 persons on the Web using that domain name! So much for originality. So I had to find a new title and a more interesting blog.
I truly felt that first effort was heaven-sent. Have you ever had that happen, that you think God is directing you in a certain way and it just goes nowhere? Do you think that He believes in blind alleys? A few days later I knew what His answer was for me because He sent me in a new direction, and Walking Religiously was born. Writing with humor is so much more fun!!! However, part of me is still stuck in that Humble Servant role. So if I appear lopsided in my columns now and then, you'll know why. The Servant part is the preacher, the religious walker is forever poking humor at all sorts of things here and there. I don't know which I like better. They're both part of me, so I guess I'm stuck with being a misfit. I'm thinking, maybe God was telling us all that we need both--some serious religion blended with lots of humor to live sanely in this often crazy world.

Religiously yours,

P.S. Thanks to those of you who've sent Comments. I appreciate hearing from every one of you. I do have a second request: please also--all of you who follow my blog--sign in at My Followers in the sidebar. Thanks in advance for that, too.
Peggy - yep, for sure we do need some serious religion blended with lots of humor to live sanely! I often forget the humor and take things way too seriously - thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, this is my first attempt to read your blog because I don't sit at the computer much, other than at work. I have added you to my 'favorites'. You are an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeletePeace and blessings to you.
To Anonymous: Thanks for the encouragement. It's hard to know on this side of the screen whether I am making the grade as an inspiration writer or not. Your words mean a lot!
