Living Religiously
If you grow up in a strict German Lutheran home, you are expected--by your parents, at least--to live religiously. I was lucky. My dad played his saxophone in a dance band. Please note that, at that time, dancing was outlawed by the church and the sax was an immoral instrument. Great role model: right?
Since I was corrupted at such an early age, I think this gives me good credentials to write a column on how to walk with God religiously while your feet are still stuck in mud. Yes, I'm still Lutheran, though now in a more liberal branch of Luther's spiritual descendants. (My mom would scowl, my dad would cheer!) I've come to think for myself while learning what God's Word really says, what it really means to live deeply for Him, to follow Him faithfully while tripping occasionally on bumps in the road.
I invite you to join my troops, if so inclined. I'll strive for regular blogs, a couple a week on Mondays and Thursdays. I may even stick in an extra, once in awhile, but only if they're good. Everybody is too darn (Notice I didn't use the d___ word!) busy these days. I don't want to waste your time. So keep watching. I'll get a good rhythm for this type of writing, someday soon.
If you like my writings, plop a shortcut to my blog URL on your desktop and make me a regular (Hurray!) morning, noon, or evenings. Or put me in your Favorites or Bookmark. I'll do my best to make it worth your while.
Thanks for visiting,
Your friend in Christ and all things good and fun,
Margaret
So that's why Grandpa Al was so much fun. He had a great voice too.
ReplyDeleteMargaret,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'll check your blog for insights. I know we haven't spoken much at church, but I certainly recognize the depth of your biblical wisdom and respect your love of Christ.
In Christ,

Hey, Margaret ~
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And what a great way to keep in touch. Also, I enjoyed your photo! May this blog be a blessing to you and many others! Linda
How coincidental. I was also raised in a strict German Lutheran home. I used to sit in the back of church with my dad who'd play tic tac toe with us, while my mom would scowl.
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog, Margaret! Both fun and insightful.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff! Keep up the good work Auntie!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending this link. I find you very flexible but with a spiritual goal, which is needed.
